Xaiveyon McMillan-Taylor recognized by board, local officials for heroism

During the school board meeting on Wednesday, November 12, the Woodland Hills School District and representatives with State Senator Jay Costa, State Representative Abigail Salisbury, Allegheny County Council, and North Braddock Borough, formally recognized and honor Woodland Hills High School student Xaiveyon McMillan-Taylor for his heroism in saving a neighbor from a house fire in October.

Xaiveyon had just returned home from school when he heard his neighbor shouting for help. He was able to usher her out of the house, which was quickly engulfed in flames. Xaiveyon's quick reaction, courage, and selflessness helped save a life.

On Wednesday, he was presented with several proclamations from the local officials, as well as tokens of appreciation from the Woodland Hills School District. Xaiveyon was joined by his family and other well-wishers for the occasion.

The Woodland Hills School District would like to extend its gratitude to Sen. Costa, Rep. Salisbury, the Allegheny County Council, Mayor Lee, and the North Braddock Borough for helping us recognize Xaiveyon for his heroism.
