The Woodland Hills School District held its annual Athletic Awards Ceremony to commemorate the end of the 2025-26 athletics calendar and to honor the student-athletes who represented the Wolverines during this past school year.
Each varsity team that is sponsored by the Woodland Hills Athletic Department is recognized in front of their classmates, teachers, and families during the ceremony, while team and individual accomplishments are shared with the audience. The evening is also an opportunity to recognize select individuals for their outstanding performance on and off of the field.
Annabel Johnson and Landon Akins were recognized with the Distinguished Athlete Award, Abigail Sholtes and Cameron Walter received the Leadership Award, and Ahmya Stubbs and Kyin Jeter were presented with the Sportsmanship Award. Connor Abrams and Rebecca Busch received the Distinguished Scholar Athlete Award, which is granted to those students with the highest grade point average in the senior class. Both students had a 4.8 GPA.
Sharon Vasquez was presented with the 2025-26 Coach of the Year Award in recognition for her efforts in taking the girls flag football program from its infancy into one of the strongest teams in the region. This was Vasquez's final year in charge of the team, as she has taken the head coaching job at Point Park University as the sport continues to grow.
Several community members presented senior student-athletes with awards during the ceremony. The Mitchell P. Harmon Memorial Scholarship Foundation - Male and Female Scholar Athlete Award was presented to Shamira Pennell, Madison Sheffey, and Cameron Walter. The Caileigh Lynn McDowell Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Livia Rocco. The PLAY4MAE Foundation Scholarships were presented to Anthony Barron, Landon Akins, and Keniyah Barbour.
The ceremony also takes time to recognize scholar athletes who meet certain academic standards, as well as athletes who play three or four sports in one school year and seniors who earned a varsity letter in each of their four years of high school.
